GOD IS ONLY A PRAYER AWAY! by Deborah Taylor
Beloved,
Are you praying? If not, why not? It is written in Matthew 7.7-11: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
It is written in John 16.23: And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. It is written in James 4.2: Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. It is written in John 14.13: And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. It is written in John 15.16: Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
I don't know about you, but I want to be obedient to God's will. I need miracles every day. I know many who need miracles every day. I can't help but conclude that the world is like it is because of the prayerlessness of the Body of Christ. Since I know that our Father in heaven answers every prayer, it only makes sense that many are not seeing answers because they are not praying. Maybe they have become weary in well doing, or impatient with God. Maybe they have listened to the lies of the enemy for so long, wearing them out, they feel like they can't pray. Maybe they feel that they don't know how to pray.
There is no perfect prayer. The Disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. It is written in Matthew 6.9-13: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
If you put God first, in every area of your life, you will live the abundant life He promised. You should call on His Name before you get out of bed in the morning. You should talk to God about who He is and about what He has done, is doing and continues to do. Give Him praise, glory, honor and thanks. Give Him praise for giving you another day. Be thankful. True prayer is seeking God's will and making it your will. The Lord is good and His mercies endureth forever. Declare and decree His promises. Trust God and give Him thanks on credit, before you receive the answers to your prayers. Remember Paul and Silas? They sang a song at midnight, after being beaten, and God sent an earthquake and set them free. God already knew what they were going through. God already knew they were beaten for preaching the Gospel. God already knew they were put in a prison. They didn't have to ask God to deliver them, they just praised Him in the pit and God showed up mightily. God knows everything and nothing is impossible for Him. When you trust Him, there is nothing He won't do for you!
It is written in Luke 23.39-43: And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
So, the thief on the cross simply asked: Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. Obviously, this thief knew that Jesus was God. He didnt' pray a long, impressive prayer. He simply acknowledged that he was a sinner who deserved to be punished. He believed that Jesus was God. He was dying on a cross so I'm sure that he meant what he was saying with every fiber of his being. He was not playing games. He knew his eternal soul was at stake. He believed well. It is written in Matthew 6.7-8: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Like many of you, I have suffered. I have been broken and brokenhearted. I have been betrayed. I have suffered loss and lack. I have been homeless, more than once. I have been abused, slandered, mistreated, falsely accused and hated. But all those circumstances only forced me to cry out to God, like the thief on the cross. But just like the thief on the cross, Jesus answered. Jesus comforted. Jesus loved. Jesus promised. I am no different than anyone else, but I know that God answers prayer. He has answered every single prayer I have ever prayed. Some answers came immediately and some answers came over time, but they came. But, just like you, I am still under attack daily. My family is still under attack daily. The enemy is still warring against us all until he is finally dealt with as it is written in Revelation 20.10. So, I pray daily, without ceasing. I pray for everyone. We all need it. I pray for God to raise up more men and women who will pray. We need each other's prayers every day. We are all in this battle together, until Jesus returns. I said all of that to say this: LET US PRAY!
There is power in the prayer of agreement. It is written in Matthew 18.20: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. This is why we are here. Yes, God hears the prayers of your heart, individually, but there is supernatural power in the prayer of agreement. I have seen it. When my husband prays with me, heaven opens and He pours miracles. This is why we are here. We want to stand in agreement with you and intercede on your behalf, because we know that we need each other's prayers. We know that there is power in agreement. More prayer equals more power. I believe the more people that pray in agreement, the sooner the answers show up.
Following are more verses about prayer. The Bible has much to say about the subject. These are only a few of the verses to help you understand the importance of prayer. Prayerlessness is a sin. So, I ask you again: If you are not praying, why not? If sin keeps you from the Bible and the Bible keeps you from sin; I can only conclude that sin keeps you from prayer and prayer keeps you from sin. Everything is a choice. I'm praying whoever reads this will choose this day to join me in praying without ceasing for the Brethren everywhere. Amen.
